Organizing Tips

  • Use clear plastic containers for storing items it helps identify the contents inside the container.
  • Label each side of the storage container
  • Keep flashlights in one place
  • Use a plastic bin for batteries
  • If it takes you more then a minute to determine if you really need to hold on to something, then you more then likely do not need the item-toss it or donate it.
  • Do not save things to sell at that garage sale you are going to have one day, donate it and get the tax deduction now
  • Start small... Clean out one of your junk draws and give each item that you don't want in the draw a new home.
  • Clean out the medicine cabinet and give everything a new home
  • Instead of saving a magazine for an article, craft project, or recipe tear out the article of interest. Create a binder for recipes, craft projects and things you want to do someday. Recycle the magazine to a friend. If you do not want to create the binder, you can see if you can access the article on line and email yourself a copy of the article.
  • Tired of receiving all the unsolicited mail? Send a post card or letter to Direct Marketing Association Mail Preferences Service P.O. Box 643 Carmel NY 10512 ask to have your name removed from all of their lists.
  • Ask you local pizza parlor for an unused large pizza box, store your children's large hard to let go artwork
  • Create a binder for your recipes. Use plastic protectors, and tabs. Sort your recipes by desserts, main course meals, appetizers etc. Get more creative, set up a tab for menus from your local restaurants that you frequently visit.
  • Hold onto your Thanksgiving or annual holiday party grocery list. Store it in your recipe book name the tab holiday grocery. You already now what you need and can even enter the list in a computer program print it out for the following holiday.
  • Store your photos in a picture box; divide the box example by Birthday, Holiday, Vacation, Graduation and Family
  • Buy postage stamps on line.
  • When you write appointments in your planner don't forget to include the phone number in case you are running late.
  • Organize your purse, laptop bag and diaper bags. Clear out all the contents. Dump the garbage. Use clear plastic bags to locate makeup, pens, ointments, and business cards.
